- Funding: zukunft.niedersachsen (Lower Saxony state funding program)
- Duration: 4-year initiative
- Co-directors: Prof. Dr. Lynn Rother (Leuphana) and Dr. Claudia Andratschke (Landesmuseum Hannover / Network for Provenance Research in Lower Saxony)
- Project Manager (academic): Agustina Andreoletti

Description
PAESE 3.0 builds on the original PAESE project (Provenance Research in Ethnographic Collections in Lower Saxony, 2018–2022, funded by Volkswagen Foundation) — the first project of its kind on collections from colonial contexts in Germany.
The project aims to make collected data usable for computer-aided analyses, transforming colonial and postcolonial museum provenance information into Linked Open Data (LOD). Special focus is placed on geographical information and its digital representation — a particularly complex challenge given colonial territorial divisions and changing national borders.
Goals
- Make colonial provenance data usable for computer-aided analyses
- Transform colonial and postcolonial museum provenance information into LOD
- Enable cross-collection analysis of colonial power relations
- Address complexity of geographical information under colonial territorial divisions
- Integrate with the CCC portal (Collections from Colonial Contexts) of the German Digital Library (Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek)
Implementation Sites
Bremerhaven, Göttingen, Hanover, Lüneburg, Oldenburg
ProSaDi Network
PAESE 3.0 is part of the larger ProSaDi cooperative project, which develops digital techniques for research and presentation of collection items removed from contexts of origin (colonialism, war, looting, persecution, market dynamics). Funded through at least October 31, 2028.
